You need:
- clay
- a non porous plastic tray/base
- tools
- hair dryer if needed
- sandwich box
- glue gun
- something to make the barrier for instance clay or depending on your wound size you could also cut up a plastic cup
Steps:
- make sure your workplace is all set up and you have done enough research
- bring in images so you know how it should look like( no matter if you are doing a wound or anything else)
- make sure your plastic base is clean before you start
- get a piece of clay and start sculpting, you can use a hair dryer to make it more soft and easier to work with
- keep sculpting until you are happy with your design
- make sure your edges are well blended-> otherwise they will be visible when doing the negative
- try to be realistic when it comes to the size->people tend to make them too big and then the mould will look unrealistic; also consider where it will be on the body->if it is on the face and near the eye make sure you will have enough space later to blend it in
- make sure the surface is smooth unless you want texture->for example if you sculpting for something on the face->the face has a lot of pores so you will need to have texture in it-> can create texture with the tools you have or use one of your wooden brushes
- as said before details are important so do really good research
- when you are done spray it first with fixier/fixing spray(can get it from Kryolan), wait until dry->spray on open window and wear a mask
- then spray with petrolease, also wear mask and in front of open window, spray from a 20 cm distance, don't spray too much, wait until dry
- then get something to make a barrier-> for small wounds you can cut a plastic cup apart and the glue the open half onto your plastic tray with a glue gun->make sure it's glued on properly so no silicone will later leak
- let the glue dry
